Nambour, it’s time to fire up for the NCC Minifest!

Come and find out more about what’s happening at your local community centre
 
Nambour Community Centre (NCC) is proud to host their annual open day Minifest on Friday 18th August from 4-7pm. This year, we want to give you a taste of everything your local community centre has to offer from workshops to market stalls and everything in between.
 
This free event is a great chance to come along and enjoy free wood-fired pizzas while exploring all the wonderful events, services and groups on offer at NCC. There will be plenty of kid’s activities, live music, free food and one of Herb’s famous up-cycled light shows to round out a great night.
 
There will be plenty of fire pits to keep everyone warm and lots of workshops from hula hoops to Falun Gong. Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more about their local community centre. At NCC, we’re all about community.

Let the kids go feral in the park. Balls and a sausage sizzle provided.

YOUNG PARENT SOCIAL
This is a weekly collective playgroup for young parents aged between teen and 23 years. Spending time with our kids and each other. Tea, coffee & hot chocolate provided.

Little people bring your big people for nature play, art and food in the park

Multicultural Activities
CULTURAL CONNECTIONS
Cultural Connections is a community development program for people from diverse cultural backgrounds.  The program can support migrants to meet people, improve skills, get connected in the local community & celebrate our diversity.  
 
MAROOCHYDORE MULTICULTURAL GROUP CONVERSATIONS AND GET TOGETHER
Meet new people, make new friends and share your culture and stories. Everyone is welcome and morning tea is provided.

SUNSHINE COAST MULTICULTURAL NETWORK MEETING
When: 1st Wednesday of each Month

MIGRANT SETTLEMENT PROGRAM
This program offers free help to migrants who are settling on the Sunshine Coast. We run varied workshops and provide information on employment, education, learning English, Centrelink, housing, health, legal and referrals to other services. We connect individuals with people and community groups.

Learn how to send emails, lodge forms, use programs and much more
Nambour Community Centre’s computer assistant, Brian & Valerio are on hand to help with all your computer queries from lodging forms to sending emails and everything in between.
 
This is a great chance to learn more about the internet and computers in a free one-on-one tutorial.

Appointments are available on Mondays & Thursdays from 9am to 2.30pm. Phone NCC on 5441 4724.

Are you ready to brave the internet but just don't know where to start?
 
Well you’re in luck, come along to our info sessions and one of our experienced computer assistants will help you through the process.

We’ve Saved You A Place at the Table for Multicultural Month

Come and meet new friends while you share you culture through food.
 
This month the A Place at the Table dinner will celebrate all things multicultural. Bring a plate to share and connect with friends both old and new. Hosted by migrant settlement worker Linda and multicultural worker Shine, the dinner will be held on Friday 4th August from 5.30pm at the centre.

Stories of Hope coming to NCC on 9 August

 
Come along to hear stories of hope  from those who have faced life’s challenges, including ex-detective Stuart Rawlins as he shares his moving story to bring hope to those suffering PTSD and mental health issues.

Introducing the Young Women’s Collective

A creative space where creative women are supported by like-minded women
 
Thriving Families is proud to introduce a group where young women can get creative stuff done and happening in their lives. Whether it’s art, dance, clay, hair, nails, up-cycling or sewing, you’re more than welcome to bring your creative ideas.
 
The group is designed for high school students and young women in the Nambour community and all participants will be supported by other women.
 
The group will meet once a fortnight where everyone is encouraged to make, create and hang out with young women. Come as you are! This is a free event with a feed provided.

RESTORATIVE CIRCLE PRACTICE GROUP
Created by Dominic Barter in the Favelas in Brazil in the 1990’s, with foundations in Non-Violent Communication. The Restorative Circle provides an inclusive approach to dealing with conflict in which everybody can be heard and relationships restored.

We’re cooking up a storm this month!


Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy a barbie in the park

Hosted by Nambour Community Centre, everyone is welcome to come along to the free cultural diversity barbecue and picnic in the park. Bring your family and friends to join us in our Multicultural Month celebrations.
 
The family-friendly event will include a delicious bbq lunch, but everyone is welcome to bring a plate of food to share if they want to. You can also dress up in your traditional clothes to showcase your culture.

The computer use is free of charge and can be booked for a maximum of 2 hours.
