Monthly eBulletin 

December & January 2017/18

Welcome to the eBulletin for December and January. From all the staff and volunteers at Nambour Community Centre, we hope you and your loved ones have a happy and safe holiday season and a wonderful new year.

The Centre will close on Friday 22 December and reopen Monday 8 January with the return of all your favourite programs and so much more.

Thank you for being such a wonderful member of the Nambour Community Centre famil and we look forward to seeing you again next year in 2018.
Families and Children
COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP
Come along & Heartfully, Playfully & Artfully have fun with your kids.
When: Every Friday
Time: 9:30am - 11:30am
Where: Playground & Children's room


FERAL FRIDAYS @ QUOTA
Let the kids go feral in the park. Balls and a sausage sizzle provided.
When: Every second Friday of the
month between 4-6pm.
Where: Quota Park
Cost: Free

THE CREW

The Crew wants you - street art, dance, basketball/sports, cook-up, wood work, music, clay, your ideas and more.....
Any and all dudes between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome.  
When: Every Monday fortnight (during school terms)
Time: 4-7pm
Where: In the laneway at the Nambour Community Centre
YOUNG PARENT SOCIAL
This is a weekly collective playgroup for young parents aged between teen and 23 years. Spending time with our kids and each other. Tea, coffee & hot chocolate provided.
When: Every Monday at NCC
Time: 9.30am-11.30am


UNDER THE BELL
Are you under 25 with kids? A chill and supported playspace for you to come and enjoy a coffee and playtime with the kiddos.

STRONG WOMEN STRONG COMMUNITIES
Come along to our weekly women's arts and crafts group. Share or learn new craft tips while meeting new people.
When: Every Thursday

HEART FELT COMMUNICATION (NVC)
Also known as compassionate communication, this is a non-judgmental communication style proven to support people and help build better relationships.
When: 1st Saturday of each month (Debs)

WEDNESDAY FRIENDS
Stuck within four walls? Come & join this group for some relaxed conversation, tea, coffee & friendship.
When: Every Wednesday 10am-12pm
Cost: Gold coin donation for morning tea

UPCYCLE AWAY

Are you interested in upcycling? Making old things new again? Repairing tired clothing or pieces of furniture in the company of others? Creating a "fix-it" space in our throw away world. Please contact Ana if this is a group you would like to be involved in the new year.

BACKYARD PRODUCE GROUP

Bring your cuttings, seeds to share, and tips to swap.  Learn how to make and grow things on a budget.  Lets make Kombucha and Kefir together.  Bring a container, take home a SCOBY.
When:  First Monday of the month starting 5 February 2018

YOUNG WOMEN’S CREATIVE
A group for young women (High School aged) to get creative stuff done.
When: Monday fortnightly (during school term)

WOMEN EXPLORING SELF-AWARENESS AND SELF-LOVE
Explore the teaching of Louise Hay as she takes people on a journey of self-discovery and self-love through ‘Mirror Work’ transformation.
When: meeting Fortnightly on Wednesdays (Except School Holidays)

RESTORATIVE CIRCLE PRACTICE GROUP
Created by Dominic Barter in the Favelas in Brazil in the 1990’s, with foundations in Non-Violent Communication. The Restorative Circle provides an inclusive approach to dealing with conflict in which everybody can be heard and relationships restored.
When: 1st Saturday of the month, 1-4pm

POTTERING GROUP
Are you looking for something to do Thursday mornings from 8am to 10am?  We are starting a pottering group to do all sorts of pottering things like digging weeds, making compost, and doing odd jobs - whatever pottering activity takes your fancy. COMPUTER ASSISTANCE

The Nambour Community Centre has volunteer tutors who provide one on one assistance for those who would like to learn how to use a computer. The tutors can assist anyone from beginners to those who would like to build on their existing skills.

MONEY TALK—Feeling stressed about money?
For support with: Budgeting and managing money, realistic payment plans for debt, support to discuss your situation with creditors. Make an appointment with our volunteer for confidential, one on one info sessions.
When: weekly Fridays 9.30-2pm

SCOPE—Domestic & Family violence service
Personal confidential counseling & information for adults & children.

CULTURAL CONNECTIONS
Cultural Connections is a community development program for people from diverse cultural backgrounds.  The program can support migrants to meet people, improve skills, get connected in the local community & celebrate our diversity.

MAROOCHYDORE MULTICULTURAL GROUP CONVERSATIONS AND GET TOGETHER
Meet new people, make new friends and share your culture and stories. Everyone is welcome and morning tea is provided.

MIGRANT NETWORK GROUP
Come along to learn more about Australian work culture, make new friends and share information.
When: Recommencing Mondays in February 2018

Share a delicious meal with people from the local neighbourhood, catch up with old friends & maybe make some new ones. Everyone welcome.

MIGRANT SETTLEMENT PROGRAM 
This program offers free help to migrants who are settling on the Sunshine Coast. We run varied workshops and provide information on employment, education, learning English, Centrelink, housing, health, legal and referrals to other services. We connect individuals with people and community groups.

The ‘Building Connections’ group is about sharing experiences and gaining new perspectives.

Al-ANON FAMILY GROUP
Al-Anon provides support to anyone affected by a relative or friend’s drinking. Members give & receive comfort & understanding through a mutual exchange of experiences, strength & hope.
